Yesterday my awesome friend Justine took me to a taping of The Daily Show. After waiting in line for 2.5 hours we got into the studio, took our seat, and waited for the man of the hour (or should I say half hour) to come out for a Q & A.
During the thirty minute wait in my seat, I started to get really anxious. I had decided to raise my hand during the Q & A and was starting to panic. I'm not good with public speaking, let alone public speaking with a person I admire.
Finally Jon Stewart came out and started chatting with the audience. After a few questions from the crowd I finally raised my hand. "Yes," he said pointing to me.
"I don't have a question, but I have a present," I yelled.
"What?"
"I don't have a question, but I have a present for you!" I screamed.
"Oh, but I didn't get you anything." [insert laughter here] "What did you get me?" He was pretty nervous at this point. I think he thought I had made him some kind of shrine in his honor or something.
"I brought you a shirt."
"What kind of shirt?"
I then pointed to the shirt I myself was wearing, my "I Heart Tripods".
He made a weird sex joke and I had to explain it was actually a shirt in honor of my dog. He was relieved and then told me that his wife is actually a vet tech and brings home pity cases from the hospital (which made me want to meet her. She sounds as crazy as me!)
In the end I had to hand the shirt off to a security guard so who knows if he'll actually take it home, but I'm crossing my fingers that he does. Maybe he'll even get snapped by that paparazzi wearing it out and about!
If anyone sees him strutting his stuff in this fashion must-have let me know.
Wow. I heart Sonia! Where can I get THAT shirt made? Your love for Lulu is giving me a big time crush on you. And making me simultaneously envious of Lulu. And jealous. And seething with rage.
